Hello world!

This is my first post and with it comes the caveat that I have no idea how many posts I’ll write moving forward. Don’t get me wrong… I love to talk and I have opinions on nearly everything (except what’s for dinner… I really don’t care as long as it’s good), but actually putting those thoughts and conversations into a blog format? Not really my style.

But a little about Hog Country Outdoors. Hog Country Outdoors – that’s a mouthful so I’ll just say HCO – was started in 2021 during the time of the Great Resignation. Of course, I’m not stupid enough to quit a good paying job to follow my dreams of owning my own company, but I can certainly redirect some of my down time to something I really love. I’ve been shooting since I was a wee lad… nearly 45 years now. My oldest memory is getting a Daisy BB gun for Christmas. I hunted my entire life until I moved to Hawaii and hunting there is just too much of a hassle.

However, it was Hawaii where I was introduced to Cowboy Action Shooting. Serious fun! I mean, you dress up like a cowboy (vaquero, cowgirl, John Wayne, Roy Rogers… you get the idea) and shoot cowboy style guns in a timed event. Single Action Revolvers, Lever guns and shotguns. I recommend everyone check out the Single Action Shooting Society.

Now, I’m back on the mainland and trying to get back to real life. I shoot every chance I get, but not as much competition anymore. But that love of shooting and hunting is what led to the opening of HCO. We’re small. I’m basically a one-person shop, but hoping to grow and maybe even have employees one day! So, check us out and let me know if there’s something I can find for you.
